We've had our water filtration system since May 2005, it has provided many great benefits.  It's a nice feeling to use cleaner, softer water for washing and cleaning.  It's improving our health, we always have pure clean drinking and cooking water on hand.  We're saving cash because we don't use the chemical soaps, shampoos etc, that we used to, and we don't buy bottled water anymore.  One bottle of non toxic soap costs $30, it effectively replaces $400 of other cleaning products!  The fun part is that after a couple months my eczema cleared up and it hasn't returned! You don't have to be rocket scientist to figure out what was previously causing the problem.  This was money very well spent, especially with the improvements to our skin.  We didn't want to spend the money on higher end filtration equipment, but this equipment does what they said and our maintenance costs are much less than if we had went with cheaper equipment.
